The Challenge: One of the largest and most prominent Engineering Firms in South Texas, Urban Engineering, had outgrown its original website which was very limited and did not showcase the dynamic projects that Urban Engineering has recently completed or are currently undertaking. The company wanted a website that showed their background, all their featured work and supported their clients ever growing needs.
The Solution: Due to similar projects that Farenthold Consulting had recently completed, they were in a perfect position to offer Urban Engineering exactly what they needed. Working closely with the engineering firm, the designers at FC created a new layout offering numerous features throughout the site.
Along with many of the common features of a website, FC incorporated an advanced project section that offered detailed information to clients, potential business partners and employees within the company. The homepage displays featured projects, and additional projects can be found within their respective services. Each project area contains detailed images of the project, text and descriptions, and related downloadable documents. Through a secure administration system accessed through any internet browser, the administrators of the site can control every detail of their projects. An admin can easily add an entire project and all its elements, or edit an existing project by changing everything from the images displayed to the text for each project. Also, every project contains a document area, where PDF's, spreadsheets and other electronic files can be uploaded and viewed by visitors to the site or only by clients with a specific password, depending on how the administrator sets-up the document options.
Since it's launch, the Urban Engineering site has been used very heavily by the staff to trade documents and information with clients as well as internally. It has enabled them to spend less time providing the same information to clients, and more time to market their services in a way they were never capable of before.
